How to Install LED Light

LED light or light emitting diode lighting is now the latest way to provide light to various sections in your home. These are also very good lighting for cabinets and under cabinets in your kitchen. Compared with incandescent bulbs, the LED light is a type that is more energy efficient and emits cool light. The breakthrough of LED light in technology has discouraged the continued use of incandescent lights to save energy. There are even countries that offer to replace incandescent bulbs with LED bulbs for free. LED lights are found to be extremely efficient and can last for thousands of hours in operation. Some manufactured LED lights can even extend to 25 years in service life. The application of LED lights today are increasing to include home use and building needs.

In using LED lights for cabinets, LED bulbs are also designed to have a low profile for it to be unseen under your cabinets. They are easy to install and can be used immediately.

You can begin by determining where you want your LED lights installed. LED lights and fixture can be purchased at most home improvement stores. These are great for adding lighting under cabinets and such other work areas.

The Procedure

1. Plan you LED light location first. Mark the exact placement for the LED lights. Then plan your wiring needs after. Purchase the number of LED lights you need. In the package, you will have a power block included. Most power blocks can handle up to six lights. The power block will need to be installed near an electrical outlet or a power source. You can plug the power block to the outlet or connect it directly to the power source.

2. The electrical source is typically located within a kitchen cabinet. Secure the block with screws using a screwdriver. Then secure your LED light fixtures with screws using a screwdriver too.

3. Then drill small pilot holes in the underside of the cabinet where the wiring will need to go. Feed the wiring through these holes.

4. Locate a circuit to use for the LED lighting. This is usually provided in your home’s junction boxes and circuit boxes. Choose one closest to your wiring system.

5. Turn off the circuit you have chosen to use for the LED lighting.

6. Then feed the wiring from your junction box or circuit box up to the cabinet.

7. Start connecting the electrical wiring from the LED lighting to the lighting source. Always refer to the LED lighting instructions and properly connect the electrical wiring to avoid problems. Match the positive and negative terminals on the cord and the power block.

8. The finally connect the ground wires from the electrical source to the switch box for the LED lights. You can use wire clips to hide wires and make everything look neat and organized.

9. You can now turn on the circuit from the junction box to test your lighting. Then turn on the light switch to see if it works fine. Your cabinet will be lighted whenever you switch the light on. Don’t forget to switch off your LED light before closing the cabinet.
