But this depends on the size of the room you are about to paint.

Paint Using a Paint Sprayer

1. Always start with the ceiling in a room. Vacuum clean and wipe off all the dust that is in the ceiling. Generally, the ceiling and walls have different colors. To separate the colors, cover the walls with plastic sheathing or brown wrapping paper attached with painters tape just right below the ceiling’s edges. Cover every light fixtures or ceiling fans if there are any. Cover the floors with drop cloths and all objects in the room the paint may drip on.

2. Wear safety goggles and if need be, dust mask so you don’t get paint in your eyes and nose. Use thin gloves to keep the paint from your hands.

3. When ready, begin spraying the paint using slow even strokes on the ceiling. Release the trigger of your paint sprayer at every end of one stroke and pressing it again to start the backstroke.

4. Finish a small section that you can reach before you move to another. Avoid spraying over the last section you just painted. Your paint may drip or even dry darker than the other sections. After the ceiling is completely covered, let it dry for a half hour. Then check if it needs another coat and repeat the procedure.
Wipe clean the spray nozzle whenever you stop to let the paint dry.
5. After the ceiling is dry, you can now prepare for painting the walls. Cover door and window trims and baseboards. You can now remove the paper or plastic sheathing and tape from the top of the walls. Wipe clean the walls from dust. Leave the drop cloths on the floor in place and cover anything else that paint may drip on.

6. When spraying, use a paint trimmer to hold up to the ceiling if you are using a different color for the walls. A paint trimmer is either a metal or plastic flat shield with a long handle use to cover the ceiling during painting.

7. By holding the trimmer on one hand at the top of the wall, spray the paint back and forth under it until you are far away from the ceiling. Move down the wall to begin on another section. Continue to go around the room, without the trimmer once you are away from the ceiling. Wipe clean the nozzle of the sprayer. Check for missed spots after the paint has dried and spray them.

8. Always clean your sprayer immediately after you have used it according to manufacturer’s standard directions. Leaving paint to dry will clog up the sprayer.

9. Remove all painters tape and covers after the paint has dried. Remove the drop cloths and covers on the objects in the room. Remove the covers on light fixtures and ceiling fans. You just painted your home using paint sprayer.
